Frequently asked questions

What does the LR015811LR coolant hose do?
LR015811LR is a hose in the engine cooling circuit of the 3.0 V6 turbo diesel, carrying coolant between the radiator, the engine and the associated cooling components. Cooling hoses are a sealed pressure path, so a split or a weeping end lets the system lose pressure and coolant.
Why do coolant hoses fail on these engines?
Coolant hoses on the 3.0 V6 diesel harden and lose elasticity with age and repeated heat cycling. Failures usually appear at the clamped ends, where the hose is compressed, or at a bend where it flexes. Swelling, cracking, a soft spongy feel or seepage around a clip are all signs to renew it.
What happens if a failing coolant hose is left?
A hose that fails on the 3.0 V6 diesel dumps coolant quickly, and these engines don't tolerate overheating. Sudden coolant loss at road speed can mean a warped head or worse before the temperature gauge has finished moving. Renewing at the first sign of swelling or seepage is far cheaper.
Which vehicles does this coolant hose fit?
It's listed for the Discovery 4 2010-2016 with the 3.0 V6 diesel from VIN AA000001, and the Range Rover Sport L320 2010-2013 with the 3.0 24V V6 turbo diesel from VIN AA000001. The cooling circuit uses several hoses, so match the shape and connector ends against the one you're replacing.
