Frequently asked questions

What does the front CV boot kit do?
The front CV boot kit reseals the outer constant-velocity joint at the outboard end of the front driveshaft on the Discovery Sport (2015+) and Range Rover Evoque (2012-2018). It holds the joint's grease in and keeps road grit and water out as the shaft turns through steering and suspension movement.
How many CV boot kits do I need?
One kit reseals one outer CV joint. Each vehicle has two front driveshafts, so you'll need a kit per side if both boots have split. Typically only the side that's leaking grease needs doing, but many fitters replace both when the mileage is similar.
What are the signs a front CV boot needs replacing?
A split or perished front CV boot throws grease around the inside of the wheel arch and lets grit and water into the joint. Left unsealed, the outer CV joint wears fast and starts clicking on full lock. Replace the boot as soon as it splits to save the joint.
Does this kit cover the inner CV joint as well?
No, this kit reseals the outer CV joint only. The inner constant-velocity joint at the gearbox end uses a separate boot kit, LR025066. Check which boot has failed before ordering, as the outer boot sees the most steering movement and is the most common to split.
