What is the turbocharger oil feed filter for?
The turbocharger oil feed filter is a small in-line filter in the turbo oil feed pipe on the 2.0L 16V turbocharged petrol engine. It traps debris in the pressurised oil before it reaches the turbo bearing, protecting the bearing from contamination and premature wear.
Why does the turbo oil feed filter matter?
The turbo oil feed filter keeps particulate debris out of the turbocharger bearing, which relies on clean pressurised oil. A blocked or contaminated filter can starve or damage the bearing. Fitting a new one when replacing the turbo on the 2.0L petrol engine is common practice.
Which engines use this oil feed filter?
