Frequently asked questions

What is the handbrake shoe axle set?
The handbrake shoe axle set supplies the parking brake friction shoes for both rear wheels. The shoes expand inside the drum built into each rear disc to hold the vehicle. It fits the Discovery 3 (2004-2009), Discovery 4 (2010-2016) and Range Rover Sport L320.
Does one set cover both sides?
Yes, this axle set covers both rear parking brake assemblies, so one set does the whole axle. When fitting new shoes, renew the shoe retaining pins and clips at the same time to restore correct location and return action.
What are the signs the parking brake shoes need replacing?
Signs the parking brake shoes need replacing include a handbrake that won't hold on a slope, a dragging rear brake or a grinding noise. On the Discovery 3, Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport L320, worn drum-in-hat shoes lose grip inside the disc drum.
