What does the LR036401 heater hose do?
The LR036401 is a heater hose in the Defender heating and ventilation circuit. It carries engine coolant between the cooling system and the heater matrix, so heat from the coolant transfers into the cabin air. It's fitted on the 2.2L Puma diesel.
Which Defender does the LR036401 hose fit?
The LR036401 fits the Land Rover Defender (2007-2016) with the 2.2L Puma diesel, from VIN CA000001. Check your chassis number against that VIN break before ordering, as the heater hose routing differs on other Puma builds. Confirm the 2.2 diesel application for your vehicle.
Why do heater hoses like the LR036401 fail?
Heater hoses typically fail as the rubber ages and hardens, cracking or splitting under heat and coolant pressure, or perishing at the connections. A failing LR036401 leaks coolant and can cause loss of cabin heat on the Defender. Replacing a perished hose avoids coolant loss and overheating.
