What is the LR058030 CV boot kit used for?
LR058030 is the rear driveshaft CV boot kit. The boot is the flexible gaiter that encloses the constant velocity joint, holding the joint grease in and keeping water and grit out as the driveshaft articulates. The kit renews the boot once it has perished or split.
Which vehicles does LR058030 fit?
LR058030 fits the Freelander 2 2006 to 2014 up to VIN KH999999, the Range Rover Evoque 2012 to 2018, and the Discovery Sport from 2015. On the Freelander 2 the quantity is two per vehicle, one for each rear driveshaft.
Why do rear CV boots split?
Rear CV boots split because the rubber hardens with age, heat and road salt, then tears at the concertina folds. The first sign is usually grease flung around the inside of the rear wheel arch. Once grit reaches the joint, the joint itself is on borrowed time.
How is the boot fitted?
Replacing a rear CV boot normally means removing the driveshaft, or at least separating the joint, because the boot has to pass over it. Fit the new boot promptly after a split, since a joint that has run dry usually needs a full driveshaft rather than just a gaiter.
