Deze klep regelt de uitlaatgasstroom door het hogedruk-EGR-circuit, waarbij een gedoseerde hoeveelheid uitlaatgas van de hogedrukzijde van de turbocompressor terug in het inlaatspruitstuk wordt gevoerd. Recirculatie vermindert pieken in de verbrandingstemperatuur en NOx-uitstoot.
