The oil filter and cooler assembly is a combined oil filter housing and oil-to-coolant heat exchanger for the 3.0L V6 turbo diesel, mounted to the cylinder block as one unit. Oil passes through the full-flow filter element and then the cooler before returning to the engine.
Where is the oil filter and cooler mounted?
The oil filter and cooler mounts directly to the cylinder block on the 3.0L V6 diesel. Coolant taken from the engine circuit runs through the heat exchanger to draw heat out of the oil, so both oil and coolant connections meet at the housing.
