What is the front wing protector on a Land Rover Defender?
The front wing protector is an exterior panel fitted over the rear section of the front wing on the Defender 90 and 110 up to 2016. It takes stone chips, scuffs and boot scrapes in place of the painted wing skin. This one is finished in black.
How many wing protectors do I need for both sides?
This part covers one wing, so you need two for a matched pair across the front of the Defender. They're often replaced in pairs even when only one is damaged, since a new black protector next to a faded one is obvious from the side.
Where exactly does this protector sit on the Defender?
On the rear portion of the front wing, the area just ahead of the door and behind the wheel arch on Defender 90 and 110 models up to 2016. That's the panel catching debris thrown back by the front tyre, plus scuffing from feet and loads.
Can this be replaced without repainting the wing?
