What is the rear inner wing panel?
The rear inner wing is a weld-in structural panel forming the inboard wall of the rear wheel arch on the two-door Range Rover Classic. It separates the arch from the load space and provides the closing face the outer rear quarter panel and rear body mountings attach to. This is the left-hand (nearside) panel.
Why does the rear inner wing need replacing?
The rear inner wing takes the full load of road spray and mud thrown up by the rear wheel, so corrosion typically starts here and works outward into the visible quarter panel. On the two-door Range Rover Classic it's a common rot-repair section, supplied in pressed steel for cut-and-weld replacement.
How is the rear inner wing fitted?
It's fitted by cut-and-weld repair. Cut the corroded metal back to sound steel, offer up and weld in the new section, then seam-seal and protect both faces before the outer quarter panel and rear trim go back on. This is bodyshop work on the two-door Classic shell.
