Buitendorpel - een structureel carrosseriereparatiepaneel voor de onderrand van de 3-deurs carrosserie, aan de rechterkant (buitenzijde) langs de onderkant van de deuropening tussen de voor- en achterwielkasten.

De buitendorpel is het zichtbare buitenste paneel van de dorpelconstructie. Het wordt puntgelast over de binnendorpel en het sluitstuk om de onderste carrosseriebakconstructie te vormen die de deurdichting draagt en de vloer verstevigt. Geleverd als een geperst stalen inlasreparatiepaneel ter vervanging van een gecorrodeerd origineel.

What is the outer sill on a Discovery 1 and what does it do?

On the Land Rover Discovery 1 (1989-1998) it forms the lower body box section that carries the door seal and stiffens the floor. Supplied as a pressed steel weld-in panel.
Does this sill fit both 3-door and 5-door Discovery 1 models?
This is the 3-door right-hand (off-side) outer sill, so it fits the 3-door Discovery 1 body only. The 5-door has a longer door aperture and typically takes a different sill panel, so the two aren't interchangeable. Check your body style and side before ordering.
