What is the rear half chassis?
The rear half chassis is a replacement rear section of the Discovery 2 ladder chassis frame. It reproduces the rear half of the chassis and is welded in to replace the original where it's corroded or damaged, restoring the structural frame.
Which vehicle does this half chassis fit?
This rear half chassis fits the Discovery 2 (1998-2004). It reproduces the rear section of that model's chassis, so it won't suit other models. Corrosion at the rear crossmember and chassis rails is common on the Discovery 2, which is what this section replaces.
Can this be fitted at home?
Fitting a half chassis is a specialist job, not a DIY task. The section has to be cut in and welded to the existing frame with the vehicle properly supported and aligned, since it's a structural, load-bearing part. Most owners have this done by a workshop with chassis experience.
