The distributor pump timing tool sets the injection timing of the rotary (distributor-type) diesel injection pump on the 2.25 litre four-cylinder diesel engine. It locates the pump in its correct timed position relative to the engine, so injection timing is accurate when the pump is refitted or checked.

This tool fits the 2.25 litre four-cylinder diesel with a distributor-type injection pump, used in the Land Rover Series II, IIA and III and the early Defender (1983-1986) before the 200Tdi. Confirm your engine is the 2.25 diesel with a rotary distributor pump, as later Tdi engines time differently.

This is a specialist timing tool, only needed when the injection pump is removed, refitted or retimed on the 2.25 litre diesel, not for routine servicing. Setting distributor injection pump timing by eye is unreliable, so the tool returns the pump to its correct timed position relative to the engine.
