What does the LYX000080 oil pump O-ring do?
The LYX000080 O-ring seals the oil pump joint, containing pressurised oil and maintaining delivery pressure to the engine's lubrication circuit. It's a Genuine Land Rover seal fitted to the Range Rover L322 (2002-2009) with the 4.4 V8 petrol M62 B44 engine.
Why does the oil pump O-ring need replacing?
The oil pump O-ring is replaced because a hardened or perished seal lets pressurised oil leak at the pump joint and can drop lubrication pressure. On the L322 4.4 V8 petrol (M62), it's normally renewed any time the oil pump is removed or disturbed.
Can the oil pump O-ring be reused?
Replace the LYX000080 O-ring rather than reusing it whenever the oil pump is disturbed. A compressed rubber seal takes a set and may not reseal, and on the L322 M62 engine an oil pump leak risks low oil pressure, so a new O-ring is standard practice.
