The pre-cat lambda (oxygen) sensor measures oxygen in the exhaust before the catalytic converter and feeds it to the ECU to fine-tune the air/fuel mixture. On the Freelander 1 1.8L K Series petrol it keeps fuelling accurate and helps the catalyst work efficiently.
Where is the pre-cat lambda sensor fitted on a Freelander 1?
The pre-cat lambda sensor screws into the exhaust downpipe or manifold, upstream of the catalytic converter, on the Freelander 1 1.8L K Series (L314). It has a threaded body and a wiring plug, and typically needs a lambda socket to remove.
What are the signs a lambda sensor needs replacing?
