The NRC7988 is the high-pressure feed hose of the power steering circuit, connecting the power steering pump outlet to the steering box. It delivers pressurised fluid that provides hydraulic steering assistance. It's pre-formed with end unions to match the original routing on the Defender.

The NRC7988 power steering hose fits the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006) in right-hand drive, V8 petrol form, running from the pump to the steering box. Fitment applies from VIN AA244022 up to VIN JA918809, so confirm your chassis number falls within that range.

The NRC7988 is shaped and routed for right-hand drive Defenders with the V8 petrol engine. Pump and steering box positions differ by drive side and engine, so the high-pressure pipe is application-specific. It's not interchangeable with left-hand drive or other engine layouts.

A high-pressure power steering hose typically needs replacing when it leaks fluid at the unions or along its length, causing heavy steering, a dropping reservoir level, or whining from the pump. Perished or chafed hoses can fail under pressure. Replacing the pump-to-box pipe restores full hydraulic assistance.
