What is the front panhard rod and what does it do?

The front panhard rod locates the front axle laterally relative to the chassis on the Land Rover Defender, while the radius arms control fore-and-aft movement. It bolts to a bracket on the axle casing at one end and a chassis bracket at the other.

Why is this the LHD version, does it matter?

This is the left-hand drive front panhard rod. Left- and right-hand drive rods are not interchangeable, because the steering box occupies the opposite side of the chassis on the Defender. Confirm your vehicle drive side before ordering.
