Startrondsel voor de startmotor van de VM turbodieselmotor.

De aandrijving draagt het rondsel en de vrijloopkoppeling (eenrichtingskoppeling) op de ankeras van de startmotor. Wanneer de startmotor wordt bekrachtigd, wordt het rondsel naar voren geschoven om in te grijpen in de tandkrans van het vliegwiel en de motor te laten draaien; zodra de motor aanslaat, laat de eenrichtingskoppeling het rondsel vrijlopen, zodat de startmotor niet wordt teruggedreven. Het wordt vernieuwd wanneer de tanden van het rondsel versleten of afgebroken zijn, of wanneer de koppeling slipt of niet aangrijpt.

What does the RTC5753 starter drive do?
The RTC5753 starter drive carries the pinion and one-way overrunning clutch on the starter armature shaft. When the starter is energised the pinion throws forward to mesh with the flywheel ring gear and crank the engine, then overruns once the engine fires.
Which engine does this starter drive fit?
This starter drive fits the VM turbo diesel starter motor in the Range Rover Classic. It covers the 2.4 and 2.5 four-cylinder VM turbo diesel on 1986-1991 models and the 2.5 VM turbo diesel on 1992-1994. It won't fit petrol or non-VM starters.
What are the signs the starter drive needs replacing?
A worn starter drive typically shows as a grinding or whirring noise when starting, the starter spinning without cranking, or the pinion failing to engage the flywheel. Chipped pinion teeth or a slipping one-way clutch are the usual causes on these VM diesel starters.
