What does the A/C Evaporator Seal do?
The A/C Evaporator Seal seals the evaporator assembly inside the air conditioning HVAC housing. It sits at the evaporator core interface to stop air bypass and moisture ingress where the assembly meets the housing, keeping cooling efficient on left-hand-drive Defender models with factory air conditioning.
Will this seal fit my Defender's air conditioning?
This seal fits left-hand-drive Defender 1987-2006 models with factory air conditioning and non-TDi engines, up to VIN WA159806. If your chassis number is later than WA159806, or the vehicle is right-hand drive or TDi, this isn't the correct seal.
Can the evaporator seal be reused once removed?
Fit a new evaporator seal whenever the evaporator assembly is removed. An aged, compressed seal typically won't reseal reliably, which can let air bypass the evaporator and cause condensation leaks. Replacing it as standard during A/C work avoids a repeat strip-down.
