Frequently asked questions

What does the brake pad wear sensor wire do on a Range Rover Sport?
The brake pad wear sensor wire triggers the dashboard pad wear warning on the Range Rover Sport L320. It runs against the front brake pad, and once the friction material wears to its limit the disc severs the loop and opens the circuit, lighting the warning. It's an OEM front-pad sensor.
Which Range Rover Sport does this wear sensor wire fit?
This wear sensor wire fits the Range Rover Sport L320, but only up to VIN 6A999999. Later L320 builds from VIN 7A000001 use a different front wear sensor harness, so check your VIN before ordering to confirm the early-build fitment.
Should the wear sensor wire be replaced when fitting new brake pads?
Yes, replace the wear sensor wire whenever the front pads have worn to the limit, because the disc destroys the loop when it triggers the warning. Even if it's still intact, it's typically renewed with a pad change since it's routed against the pad and easily damaged on removal.
