What does the STC3385 ABS sensor do?
The STC3385 rear ABS wheel speed sensor reads the toothed exciter ring on the rear hub and signals wheel speed to the ABS control module. The module uses that data to detect impending lock-up and modulate brake pressure. It fits the Range Rover P38 (1994-2001).
Which Range Rover does the STC3385 fit?
The STC3385 fits the rear axle of the Range Rover P38 (1994-2001) from VIN VA346794. A build change took place during production, so check your VIN is at or after VA346794 before ordering. This is the rear sensor, not the front.
What are the signs the rear ABS sensor has failed?
A failed or contaminated rear ABS sensor typically lights the ABS warning lamp and disables anti-lock braking on that wheel. Causes include a cracked sensor tip, wiring damage, or debris and corrosion on the exciter ring. Normal braking continues, but the anti-lock function is lost.
Is the STC3385 fitted to one wheel or both?
The STC3385 is a rear wheel speed sensor, and the P38 typically runs one at each rear wheel. If only one has failed you usually replace just the affected side. Confirm which side shows the fault before fitting, as the left and right sensors do the same job on opposite hubs.
