What does the front axle drive shaft do?
The front axle drive shaft transmits torque from the front differential to the left-hand front wheel hub. Running through the live front axle case to the constant velocity joint at the hub, it delivers drive to the front wheel. Supplied as a complete Hardy Spicer shaft and CV joint.

Why does the front CV joint wear out?
The constant velocity joint on this shaft typically wears when its boot splits and loses grease, letting in grit and water. The usual symptom is a clicking or knocking on full lock when turning. Continued use usually wears the joint until front drive feels notchy.

No, this is the left-hand front drive shaft only. The right-hand front drive shaft, part TDB500280, is listed separately. Each side comes as a complete shaft and CV joint assembly, so order the left and right shafts individually as required.
