Frequently asked questions

What is the +2 inch travel rear monotube shock for?
This rear monotube shock absorber is built 2 inches (50mm) longer than standard so suspension raised on lifted springs runs the damper in its correct range. It is a high-pressure gas damper for the rear axle of a Land Rover Discovery 2. Terrafirma.
Why use a longer rear shock with a lift?
A +2 inch lifted Discovery 2 needs this longer rear shock so the damper works through its full travel instead of topping out. Standard length shocks on a lifted rear axle can over-extend and lose damping control.
Is this rear shock sold as a pair?
This is a single rear shock absorber for the Discovery 2. Shocks are usually replaced in pairs, so the rear axle normally needs two. The matching +2 inch front shock is a separate part.
