What is the Air to Coil Kit with adjustable damping?
The Air to Coil Kit converts the Land Rover Discovery 2 from rear air suspension to a coil spring and damper set-up, front and rear, with a 2-inch lift and medium-load springs. The shocks have 4-stage adjustable damping.
Which vehicle does it fit?
This kit fits the Land Rover Discovery 2 (1998-2004). The +2 inch springs raise ride height for more clearance while the medium-load rating suits a moderately laden vehicle.
Why convert a Discovery 2 to coils?
Air springs self-level under load but reach their limit on a heavily laden Discovery 2 over rough ground, and a failed air bag drops the vehicle onto its bump stops. Coils remove that failure mode and cope better when the vehicle is worked hard.
What does the adjustable damping do?
The 4-stage adjustable shocks let you tune damping firmness to suit load and terrain, from softer on-road to firmer when carrying weight or towing. The medium-load springs and 2-inch lift are matched to the Discovery 2.
Can this be fitted at home?
Fitting typically needs a spring compressor, jack and axle stands, and removal of the rear air components. It's a big job on the Discovery 2, so owners without suspension experience often use a workshop.
