What is the Terrafirma 8-stage adjustable shock absorber?

This is a monotube remote-reservoir damper for the front or rear suspension, with an 8-stage damping adjuster on the canister. The body is 125mm (+5") longer than a standard damper, allowing the extra axle droop and articulation that a raised or long-travel set-up produces.

Which vehicles does this +5" shock fit?

This +5" adjustable shock fits the Defender up to 2016, Discovery 1 (1989-1998) and Range Rover Classic (up to 1994). It's built for raised or long-travel suspension on those coil-sprung models, not for standard ride height.

Can this shock be fitted at the rear?

It can, but the standard rear top eye mount won't accept a pin-mounted damper of this length. Rear fitment requires the pin-top mounting kit TF519. At the front it uses the existing pin mountings without the extra kit.

What does the remote reservoir and 8-stage adjuster do?

The remote reservoir carries extra oil and nitrogen, divided by a floating piston, which resists the aeration that causes damping fade when a damper is worked hard and heats up. The 8-stage adjuster sets the rate for rock crawling, cross-country work or road use.
