What is the TF838 front differential guard for?

The TF838 front differential guard is a bolt-on skid plate that shields the front axle differential housing on the Discovery 2 from impact damage during off-road use. It mounts beneath the front axle and takes the hits from rocks, ruts and trail debris that would otherwise strike the diff casing.

What is the differential guard made from?

The front differential guard is made from yellow zinc-plated steel, which adds corrosion resistance for a part mounted low under the vehicle where it's exposed to mud and water. The plating helps the steel guard last on the Discovery 2 despite constant exposure to trail conditions.

Is there a matching guard for the rear differential?

Yes, the companion rear axle differential guard is TF839, which protects the rear diff in the same way the TF838 protects the front. Fitting both gives the Discovery 2 front and rear differential protection for off-road use. Each guard is sold separately.
