The inlet valve guide is a cylinder-head guide for the inlet valves of the 2.6L six-cylinder petrol (IOE) engine. Pressed into the head, it guides the inlet valve stem for concentric seating and conducts heat from the valve into the head. Supplied as a single guide.
Which engine does this valve guide fit?
This inlet valve guide fits the 2.6L straight-six petrol IOE engine only. It's not used on the four-cylinder Series or Defender engines.
What are the signs an inlet valve guide is worn?
Worn inlet valve guides typically let the valve stem rock, causing oil to draw down the guide, blue smoke and poor valve sealing. Guides are usually renewed during a cylinder-head overhaul. Alternative code 504169 also applies.
