Carterplugring - koperen afdichtring voor de oliecarterplug en het thermostaathuis op benzine- en vroege dieselmotoren.

De koperen ring sluit af tussen de plug of de boutkop en het aluminium of gietijzeren contactvlak. Onder torsie vervormt het zachte koper om oppervlaktedefecten op te vullen en een olie-dichte afsluiting te creëren. Het vervangen van de ring bij elke olieverversing voorkomt lekkage door een uitgeharde ring die niet langer goed kan aansluiten op het contactvlak.
