Deze papieren pakking dicht het thermostaathuis af tegen de cilinderkop, waardoor lekkage van koelvloeistof bij de verbinding wordt voorkomen. Deze moet worden vervangen telkens wanneer het thermostaathuis wordt verwijderd tijdens onderhoud aan het koelsysteem.
