Frequently asked questions

What is the chassis harness grommet used for?

The chassis harness grommet seals the aperture where the wiring harness passes through a chassis or body panel. It protects the cables from chafing against the bare panel edge and helps keep dirt and moisture out of the opening. It's a black rubber grommet measuring 6 x 33.5mm.

Where is this grommet fitted on the vehicle?

This grommet fits wherever the chassis wiring harness crosses a panel or chassis-rail aperture, typically along the loom routing on the bulkhead, inner wings or chassis outriggers. The exact positions vary by model and harness layout.

How many of these grommets do I need?

Order one grommet per harness pass-through point you're repairing, so quantity depends on the job. Split or perished grommets are usually replaced individually as you find them rather than as a full set.

Which Land Rovers use this grommet?

This rubber grommet is used across older Land Rovers including the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic. Measure your panel hole and cable size to confirm the 6 x 33.5mm grommet matches before ordering.
