Afdichting aandrijfas – Voor, gemonteerd bij het fuseelagerhuis van de vooras.

Deze radiale lipafdichting zit op de voorste aandrijfas waar deze door de binnenste fuseekogel van het fuseelagerhuis gaat, en houdt het smeermiddel van de as en het fuseelager vast en sluit water, vuil en gruis van de verbinding uit. Een versleten afdichting leidt tot olieverlies en binnendringen van verontreinigingen, waardoor de slijtage van het fuseelager en de homokinetische koppeling wordt versneld.

Er zijn er twee per voertuig gemonteerd, één aan elke kant.

The FTC3276 front drive shaft oil seal sits at the front axle swivel pin housing, running on the driveshaft where it passes through the inner swivel ball. It retains the axle and swivel lubricant and keeps water, dirt and grit out of the joint. This is the Genuine Land Rover seal.
How many front drive shaft seals are fitted?
Two front drive shaft oil seals are fitted per vehicle, one on each side. It's good practice to renew both at once, since they typically wear at a similar rate and the access is the same job on each side.
What happens if the drive shaft oil seal fails?
A failed drive shaft oil seal lets swivel and axle oil leak out while letting water and grit in, which typically accelerates wear on the swivel and constant-velocity joint. Signs include oil weeping at the swivel housing. Replace it during a swivel overhaul or as soon as leakage shows.
