Visco-ventilatorkoppeling is de temperatuurgeregelde aandrijfeenheid tussen de waterpomp en de motorkoelventilator.

Het wordt gemonteerd op de as van de waterpomp en drijft de ventilator aan via een siliconen vloeistofkoppeling, waarbij de ventilator meer wordt ingeschakeld naarmate de temperatuur onder de motorkap stijgt en de ventilator vrij kan draaien wanneer extra koeling niet nodig is. Dit vermindert parasitaire weerstand en ventilatorgeluid zodra de motor de bedrijfstemperatuur heeft bereikt.

What does the viscous fan coupling do?
The viscous fan coupling is a temperature-controlled drive unit between the water pump and cooling fan. It increases fan engagement as under-bonnet temperature rises and lets the fan freewheel once the engine is warm, cutting drag and fan noise. Fitted to the Range Rover Classic, Discovery 1 V8 and Series III Stage 1 V8.
What are the signs a viscous coupling needs replacing?
A failing viscous coupling usually shows up as engine overheating in traffic, a fan that spins freely when cold with no resistance, or a roaring fan that stays engaged at speed. The silicone fluid degrades with age and heat. Most of these symptoms point to the coupling rather than the water pump itself.
Does this include the cooling fan?
This is the viscous coupling unit only, not the fan blade. The fan typically bolts to the front face of the coupling and is reused or ordered separately. On these V8 and VM diesel applications the fan is usually a 7-blade unit. Check your existing fan transfers across before fitting.
How do I confirm this fits my Range Rover Classic?
Fitment splits by build date on the Range Rover Classic 1986-1994. Cars from 1986-1991 run to VIN HA610293 and 1992-1994 from JA610294. It also fits the Discovery 1 V8 and Series III 109 Stage 1 V8. Use your VIN to confirm the variant before ordering.
