Frequently asked questions

What is this Bolt used for?
This Bolt is a 3/8in UNC x 1 1/8in fastener that retains the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head on the Rover V8 petrol engine. It's used on the 3.5L twin-carburettor and 4.0L EFI V8 in the Defender, Series 2 and 3, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
How many bolts are needed for the exhaust manifold?
The Rover V8 uses several of these bolts per side to clamp each exhaust manifold to the head, so a full manifold job typically needs a set rather than a single bolt. Count the fixings on your manifold and order to suit.
Should these manifold bolts be reused?
Exhaust manifold bolts run through repeated heat cycles and often corrode or stretch, so they're worth replacing rather than reusing when the manifold comes off. A seized or weakened bolt can shear on removal, so fresh 3/8in UNC bolts help avoid a snapped fixing in the head.
