Frequently asked questions

What is the front towing eye used for?
The front towing eye bolts to the front of the chassis as a fixed anchor point for towing, recovery and lifting. It accepts a shackle or hook and feeds the load straight into the chassis frame. It fits Series 1, Series 2 and 3 and Defender up to 2016.
How many front towing eyes do I need?
This towing eye is sold individually. Most vehicles run a pair, one on each side of the front chassis, so you'll usually order two. A ready-made pair is also listed under 267950 if you'd rather buy both together.
Can this towing eye be used for vehicle recovery?
Yes, it's designed to take recovery loads and transfer them into the chassis frame. Always use a correctly rated shackle and make sure you're pulling from a proper recovery point, not a tie-down. Inspect the eye and its mounting bolts for damage before any heavy pull.
