What does the distributor cap do?
The distributor cap sits on top of the distributor in the ignition system and routes high-tension voltage to each spark plug lead. As the rotor arm turns beneath it, the cap sends the coil's secondary voltage to each cylinder in firing order through push-on HT leads. It suits the 2.25 petrol engine.
Which engine and models does it fit?
This Lucas distributor cap fits the 2.25 petrol engine on the Series 2, 2A and Series 3, up to engine suffix C. The suffix limit matters, since later suffix engines used a different cap, so check your engine number before ordering to confirm it's suffix C or earlier.
What are the signs a distributor cap needs replacing?
