What does the AEU2147LLR fuel filter element do?

This is the replaceable filter cartridge for the diesel fuel filter on 200 Tdi and 300 Tdi engines. Fitted inside the filter housing upstream of the injection pump, it traps particulate contamination, rust and water from the diesel.

Why is this filter element important on a Tdi engine?

It protects the injection pump and injectors from wear and blockage caused by contamination in the diesel. A clogged or degraded element typically causes reduced power, hard starting or increased injector pump wear over time.

How is this filter element replaced?

Changing the element typically means opening the filter housing or canister, swapping the old element for the new one, and refitting with basic hand tools. On most Tdi engines you'll also need to bleed the fuel system afterward.
