De Panhardstang positioneert de as lateraal ten opzichte van het chassis, waardoor deze gecentreerd onder het voertuig blijft. What does the adjustable Panhard rod do on a Land Rover?

The Panhard rod locates the axle laterally, keeping it centred under the chassis. On the Defender and Discovery 1 its adjustable length lets you recentre the axle after a suspension lift or ride-height change, restoring the steering and suspension geometry. It's fitted with a polyurethane bush at each end.

Where is the Panhard rod fitted on the vehicle?

The Panhard rod runs across the vehicle at the front axle, linking the axle to the chassis on the opposite side. On coil-sprung Defender and Discovery 1 models it typically mounts between a chassis bracket and an axle bracket, taking the sideways loads that keep the axle centred.

How many Panhard rods does a vehicle need?

One Panhard rod is fitted per vehicle. This single adjustable rod replaces the fixed original on the front axle of the Defender or Discovery 1. A raised suspension may also need adjustable radius arms to correct the remaining geometry, but only one Panhard rod is required.
