What is the EJD500190 splash seal?

The EJD500190 is a front door water shedder, or splash seal, for the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006). It is the plastic membrane behind the door trim card that stops rainwater running down inside the door from reaching the cabin.

Where does the water shedder sit?

The water shedder sits between the door's inner metal skin and the trim panel. Water that gets past the window seals runs down the shedder and out through the door drain holes at the bottom, away from the interior.

Why does it need replacing?

A torn, missing or badly refitted water shedder lets rain and draughts into the cabin and can rot the door trim and footwell. It is usually replaced whenever the door card is removed for window or lock work.

How is it fitted?

The shedder is bonded to the door with sealant behind the trim card, so it is a straightforward job when the panel is already off. No special tools are needed beyond trim clips and fresh sealant.
