Frequently asked questions

What is the EJD500620G water shedder used for?
The water shedder is a moisture barrier fitted to the inner face of the right-hand front door, behind the trim panel, on the Land Rover Defender up to 2016. It seals the door's access apertures so water draining down inside the door exits the bottom rather than reaching the cabin trim.
Where does this water shedder fit on the door?
It fits the right-hand front door of the Defender up to 2016, between the inner door panel and the trim card. It typically covers the window mechanism and wiring apertures so water is kept away from the door card and the cabin.
Why does a damaged water shedder cause problems?
A damaged or missing water shedder typically lets water and draughts reach the interior, leading to damp door cards, musty smells and corrosion of the inner trim and electrics. Replacing it restores the moisture seal behind the trim panel on the Defender.
Should the water shedder be replaced when removing the door trim?
Typically yes. The shedder is bonded to the door with butyl sealant, and once it's peeled back to reach the door internals the old seal usually won't reseal cleanly. Fitting a fresh shedder is the reliable way to keep the Defender's door watertight.
