Aangedreven vanaf de voorkant van de motor via de visco-ventilator koppeling, zuigt de ventilator lucht door de radiatorkern om de koelvloeistofwarmte af te voeren. Het handhaaft de bedrijfstemperatuur van de motor onder belasting en bij lage snelheden wanneer natuurlijke luchtstroom onvoldoende is.
