O-ring - olie-aanzuigleiding voor de 2.5L 300TDi 4-cilinder turbodieselmotor.

Deze O-ring dicht de aansluiting van de olieaanzuigleiding af bij de oliepomp of het cartervlak binnen het motorsmeringscircuit. Een defecte of vergane O-ring bij deze verbinding kan lucht in de aanzuigzijde van de oliepomp brengen, wat resulteert in verminderde oliedruk. Vervanging wordt aanbevolen tijdens het verwijderen van het carter of het onderhoud van de oliepomp.

What does the ERR3417 O-ring do on the 300TDi?
The ERR3417 O-ring seals the oil pick-up (suction) pipe connection on the 2.5L 300TDi engine, typically at the oil pump or sump face. It keeps the pump's suction side airtight so it can draw oil from the sump without pulling in air.
Why does the 300TDi oil pick-up O-ring fail and what happens if it does?
The ERR3417 O-ring hardens and perishes with age and heat on the 2.5L 300TDi, letting air into the suction side of the oil pump. That causes low or erratic oil pressure. It's usually renewed whenever the sump or oil pump is removed, since access means dropping the sump anyway.
Should the O-ring be replaced whenever the sump is off?
Replace the ERR3417 O-ring any time the oil pick-up pipe or sump is disturbed on the 300TDi. Once compressed, the old O-ring takes a set and won't reliably reseal, so fitting a new one is standard practice during any sump or oil pump job. It's supplied as a single O-ring.
