De overdrukventielplunjer van de oliepomp is het drukregelende onderdeel binnen de oliepompconstructie van de 2.5L 4-cilinder dieselmotor.

De plunjer schuift binnen de boring van het overdrukventiel die in het oliepompcarter is gefreesd. Wanneer de oliedruk de ontwerpdrempel overschrijdt - ingesteld door de veerkracht die op de plunjer werkt - komt de plunjer van zijn zitting en leidt overtollige stroom terug naar de oliecarter, waardoor overdruk van het smeercircuit wordt voorkomen. Slijtage of het vastlopen van de plunjer in zijn boring kan een onregelmatige oliedruk veroorzaken, waardoor vervanging noodzakelijk is om de juiste pompregulatie te herstellen.
