What is the FJL101680PMA gear lever gaiter for?

The FJL101680PMA is a black gaiter, supplied with its housing, that fits over the main gear lever where it passes through the centre console on the Discovery 1 and Discovery 2. It seals the lever aperture at the cubby box, keeping dust out of the transmission opening.

Does this gaiter fit any Discovery 1, or only certain ones?

On the Discovery 1 it fits from VIN FA393361 to WA799999, so check your chassis number falls in that range. On the Discovery 2 (1998-2004) it fits the cubby box gaiter position, including the LHD Canada, Mexico and USA variants.

Is this the main gear lever gaiter or the transfer lever one?

This is the main gear lever gaiter, the larger one on the primary gearstick, not the smaller transfer box high/low lever gaiter. If you're replacing both, order the transfer lever gaiter separately, as they're different parts.
