Fuseehuis voor de vooras, het verchroomde fuseelager waaromheen de stuuras en naafconstructie draaien.

Het huis wordt aan het uiteinde van de asbehuizing geschroefd en omvat de voorste halve as en zijn homokinetische koppeling. Het draait op een bovenste fuseepen die in een Railko-bus (meegeleverd met het huis) loopt en een onderste fuseepen en lager, waardoor de asstomp en naaf kunnen draaien voor het sturen.

Het bewerkte kogeloppervlak loopt tegen de fusee-oliekeerring aan; putcorrosie of corrosie van dit oppervlak veroorzaakt verlies van smeermiddel langs de keerring en is de gebruikelijke reden voor vervanging.

What is the FRC2916 swivel pin housing and what does it do?

The FRC2916 is the chrome-finished front-axle swivel that the steering swivel and hub pivot on. It bolts to the end of the axle case and encloses the front halfshaft and CV joint, letting the stub axle turn for steering. It's supplied with the Railko bush.

What's included with the swivel pin housing?

The FRC2916 comes with its Railko upper swivel bush. The lower swivel pin, bearing, oil seal and joints are separate items, so check what else your swivel rebuild needs before ordering.

Why do swivel pin housings need replacing?

Swivel housings are usually renewed when the chrome ball surface pits or corrodes. A rough ball lets lubricant escape past the swivel oil seal, causing leaks and steering or CV joint wear. A scored ball won't seal against a new oil seal.

Which vehicles does the FRC2916 fit?

The FRC2916 fits the Land Rover Defender up to chassis KA930455 and the Series 2 and 3 front axle. On Defenders, confirm your chassis number is at or below KA930455, as later axles use a different swivel arrangement.
