What is the FTC1381 rear brake disc?

The FTC1381 is the rear brake disc, a solid (non-vented) disc that mounts to the rear hub and gives the brake pads their friction surface. It's an OEM Delphi part that replaces the older LR017953, fitting the Defender 90, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.

How many rear brake discs come in the box?

Rear brake discs are fitted one per side, so two are needed per vehicle. They come two in a box but are priced and sold individually, so a quantity of two gives a full rear axle set. Replace both sides together.

Why do rear brake discs fail on a Defender 90?

Rear brake discs wear and can corrode, score or warp, typically causing braking vibration or reduced stopping power. Replace them once they drop below minimum thickness or get heavily grooved. On the Defender 90 the rear discs work hard, so check them when the rear pads are changed.
