Brand AP Aandrijflijn

Frequently asked questions

What does the clutch slave cylinder do?
The clutch slave cylinder converts hydraulic pressure from the clutch master cylinder into the movement that releases the clutch. It mounts at the gearbox bell housing, and its piston drives the pushrod against the clutch release fork. Losing pressure here means the clutch won't disengage fully.
Which Land Rovers does the FTC2498G slave cylinder fit?
The FTC2498G fits the Discovery 1 (1989-1998) with 4-cylinder or V8 petrol and manual transmission, and the Range Rover Classic up to 1994 with manual transmission. It's an OEM AP Driveline part for the clutch release hydraulic circuit.
What are the signs of a failing clutch slave cylinder?
A failing clutch slave cylinder typically gives a soft or spongy clutch pedal and incomplete clutch release, so gears become hard to select. It's usually caused by a leaking piston seal or a corroded bore letting hydraulic pressure escape.
Should the slave cylinder be replaced during a clutch job?
Replacing the clutch slave cylinder during a clutch change is a common approach, since it sits at the bell housing and is far easier to reach with the gearbox out. Renewing it while access is good avoids a repeat strip-down if the old cylinder later leaks.
