The LR030028 seals the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler to its mating flange on the 2.2L TDCi Defender. It sits at the joint in the EGR circuit and prevents recirculated exhaust gas leaking where the cooler bolts up. It's an Elring gasket.
Should the EGR cooler gasket be replaced every time?
Yes, the EGR cooler gasket is single-use and should be renewed whenever the EGR cooler is removed. A used gasket typically won't reseal reliably against exhaust pressure and heat, so fit a new one anytime the cooler is disturbed to avoid a leak.
