What is the front door pillar section?

The front door pillar is the A-post that forms the rear edge of the bulkhead and carries the front door hinges. This is a left-hand (nearside) repair section. It bolts to the bulkhead at the top and is secured at its foot to the bulkhead outrigger.

Where does the door pillar usually corrode?

The foot of the door pillar is the common corrosion point, where the joint with the bulkhead outrigger traps moisture and road salt. On the Series 2 and 3 it's a frequent repair, which is why the pillar is offered as a replacement section rather than a whole bulkhead.

Does this pillar come with the lower brackets?

No, this is supplied as the basic pillar section only. The lower brackets that fix the pillar foot to the outrigger are a separate item. Order the pillar bracket alongside it if the foot mountings are also corroded, since the two are usually renewed together.
