NRC8231 - Staaf

The NRC8231 track rod end is the cross rod eye end that connects the steering track rod to the swivel arm on the Land Rover Defender (1987-2006), right-hand drive only. It sets the steering geometry and lets the joint pivot as the suspension moves. Part number NRC8231.

This cross rod eye end fits on the steering track rod linkage of the Defender front axle, on the right-hand-drive layout. It's the eye-type end that clamps into the rod. It's part of the steering system, so wheel alignment must be reset after fitting.

A worn track rod end typically shows as steering play, knocking, and a split or perished boot letting grease out. On the Defender it's an MOT check point. Because it's a steering safety part, replace it as soon as free play or a torn boot appears.

This track rod end fits right-hand-drive Defenders up to VIN (V)LA939975. From VIN (V)MA939976 it's superseded by ANR2858, so check your VIN before ordering. It doesn't fit left-hand-drive vehicles. Confirm the RHD cross rod eye is what your steering uses.
