What does the NTC3459 accelerator cable do?
The NTC3459 accelerator cable links the accelerator pedal to the throttle on the Defender. It's a Bowden cable that transfers pedal movement to the throttle linkage, opening and closing the throttle as you press the pedal. Fitted to 2.5 petrol, left-hand drive Defenders.
What are the signs the accelerator cable needs replacing?
A worn accelerator cable typically feels stiff, sticky or vague at the pedal, and in some cases the inner cable frays or snaps, leaving no throttle response. Stretch over time can also cause slow throttle return. Renewing the cable restores a clean, direct pedal action on the 2.5 petrol Defender.
Does the NTC3459 cable fit my Defender?
The NTC3459 cable fits the 2.5 petrol Defender, left-hand drive, from VIN DA295723. It won't suit right-hand drive cars, as the cable routing and length differ between LHD and RHD. Check your VIN is at or after DA295723 and that your Defender is left-hand drive before ordering.
